I visited a few times a couple years ago and just stopped in again for a baguette which was delicious. A nice crunchy crust and soft, chewy inside. Next time I will give their loaf a try. The staff was very nice. She added extra butter and jam for my takeaway. That’s all for now.

Very tasty French pastry and great range of options. But they really need to raise the awareness of food hygiene amongst their employees… the lady at the counter who served me that day literally touched everywhere with her bare hands, the counter, the desk, the keyboard, her cell phone, the cupboard, then she used the same pair of hands to grab the pastries and put them in the bag. It was gross. Not sure if they know there is a civilised tool out there called a tong. Or even a pair of gloves, anything. It’s one thing to use your bare hands and take out the pastries for yourself at the supermarket, but it’s a totally different thing if you continue to do so in hospitality. I thought I encountered an isolated incident, but then I just saw another review mentioning the same thing here two years ago. I guess it’s their tradition then. AVOID at all costs.

I loved being able to see the bakery downstairs. The staff were really friendly and bubbly We ordered coffee and sandwich, which was great .. but the small bread and croissant was slightly over cooked to my standards. But looking at the other photos they all seem like this so it might just be MY preference. So don't let it stop you visiting. Everything tasted great and fresh. The prices were inexpensive.

Price = For the amount of food you get, I didn't think it was worth the price. A little over priced IMHO. Quality = Nothing special, same quality of ingredients as you would expect to get from a supermarket. Service = Good, was served relatively quickly. Would I go back? = Probably not. Generally looking at the cakes on display, they looked burnt, and no covers over the breads or goods, so meant that there were flies on the products.

I think the only 5 stars I have ever given. The cakes were fantastic, best scone I ever had. We got 4 different cakes and all were great. Staff were great. And this was the first time in Amsterdam I didn't feel overcharged. 5 cakes and two coffees €16. I would go back. Had a great selection of breads as well.

Nice little place in a rather messy touristy street. Tasty bread & related stuff. Good coffee. Nice cakes. Quiet and pleasant. Sort of Starbucks but authentic, efficient, much better and nicer. Actually, not like Starbucks at all (apart from tourists flowing in now and then).

A proper independent, artisan bakery, conveniently located near Amsterdam Central Station. Brothers Niemeijer focuses on making an array of quality breads. Loads of sourdough choices too. The bite size bread selection it offers is a tasty, stroke of genius.
